Default Fan questions??

got a few questions about the fan on my 06

1.does the car have to be up to running temp for the high speed fan to kick in when you turn on the AC? or will the fan kick on in AC mode even if its not warmed up?

2.If the low speed fan is not working and the AC is not on will the high speed fan kick in if it starts to get hot? or is it just for when running the AC?

3.when should the low speed fan come on ?

4.in other words will the high speed fan come on if the low speeds not working when it starts getting hot?..

Just in case you have trouble with the chart when you start the engine cold, turn on the A/C. the radiator fan should come on almost immediately.

According to the chart provided by LionPT, wouldn't that be the High speed would come on with a cold engine (180 degrees F) when you turn on the A/C?

I really don't see anything in that chart that will let either fan speed come on "immediately".... Until "something" reaches at least 180 degrees. And it doesn't tell you whether it is engine temperature or condenser temperature.

On my PT, on a cold engine, and I turn on the A/C, the fan comes on immediately. I have a UltraGauge that monitors engine temp.Tomorrow morning when I first start my car, I will be sure to note the cold engine temp.

That's what I thought you or others explained to me when I was trying to troubleshoot my fan/AC problem. And that's the way it is working now after I replaced the fan and relays> Now, I look at that chart and "say what?".

LionPT...Where did this chart come from?

Here is a different chart that seems to explain how the fan on my PT operates:

It is very common for the low speed circuit to fail inside the radiator fan motor. When the A/C compressor come on, the low speed is energized by the PCM.

Best way to check the radiator fan is to manually apply 12 volts to the radiator fan plug contacts with the plug unplugged.
