Default Another EXHAUST-ing question . . .

OK, so today while I was warming up FIREBALL in 18F weather, I could easily see that not a lot of exhaust was coming out of the right side. So, just to give it a try, I plugged off the left side with my hand and the annoying noise level dropped off a LOT! SO, I tried plugging it off with a rag and revved it up a bit. NICE!

So my question is: could I add some sort of a baffle to the left side quiet the exhaust, rather than cutting and fitting an additional muffler?

Yeah, I had a Bassani exhaust on my '02. It's the same design as a Borla - the exhaust basically comes out the left with some routed "back" to the right. I like the BTG design I have now - it splits the exhaust with a "Y" splitter and sends 1/2 left and 1/2 right.
What you could try is something an old friend of mine did years ago to get his car thru inspection - take steel wool and a broomstick and shove some steel wool in the left side. If you get stainless steel wool, it ought to last.

Dual exhaust systems do not really work as you would think on a PT Cruiser 1.6 or 2.4. Your experience is one that I have tried to explain to many not only on a PT Cruiser forums but other forums that the type of similar dual exhaust systems are used.

On a PT Cruiser it is for 95%+ looks

steelwool is flammable.

Redirecting the exhaust flow by way of "stuffing" even with stainless steel wool it is not the best idea.

There really is no value to attempt to even the exhaust flow out on this topic here except maybe psychological relief?

So, Nitro, I know we've spoken about adding a glass-pack type muffler in the main pipe to quiet the exhaust, but I am not thrilled with the idea of cutting into that beautiful stainless steel and possibly mucking it up.

What is your expert opinion on the "Zoomie" exhaust baffle that was suggested above? Is it worth a try, and do you think it would work?

When you get a chance let me know. Thanks.
