Is it possible to put the rpm gauge in the middle of the cluster

I think i could do it. You would need to switch the needle servos and come up with a way to swap the wires.. Like soldering thin wire back and forth to swap where the wires end up and then figure out how to swap the faces. If the tach face is smaller than the speedo you might need to make a bezel or have a custom face made. You'd have to REALLY WANT TO DO IT

this would involve re-engineering the board and unless you're an electrical engineer with a specialty in pcb design and driving PWM stepper motors it's not going to happen.

I agree with rob. You would have to have lots of hand skills and really want to do it. Just to get it to the bare board is a task in itself. If I were goin to attempt it would be on a backup. I'm not sure you even have to swap servos. Probably just cross wire the connections. Not fro the inexperienced.

^^ and two of the wires to each likely stay the same and just supply power. so you're only talking a couple wires. i said i could do it in my first reply, PTGT03 got me wondering if i can.. so may as well try, eh?

is your car stick or auto? if it's stick, i'll try it. sounds fun. i have the cluster from my (junk)car and i like to nerd around with electronics. , i have a 4yr old boy i borrow to do stuff like this for me. i just point where the wires should go and then beat the kid until he gets it right.

Well it's kinda confusing. Right now I'm in the process of srt4 swapping my 2001 PT cruiser limited, and I wanted to get some performance gauges. Would a neon srt cluster work with the swap so long as I got the ecu from the neon?
Edit: the car will be a 5 speed getrag or neon trans depending on which I find 1st

I think that would be a huge headache unless you have the srt wiring harness and you are gifted with wiring. i think i'd want a PTGT harness and cluster. even if it works it may not read accurately. you don't know which trans you're using so you don't know the gear ratios. last time i installed a different speedo i went with a 5" autometer ultralite in dash 160 speedo. it had an electronic sender, and it was able to be calibrated by driving a mile. it was also around $400 for the gauge and the sender

Handy's swap didn't go so well
The "Handy" GT Speedometer Cluster Upgrade

Imo get the car running as intended before you start side projects.

The SRT4 is the same as a PTGT far as the motor goes. He will need to get the pt GT
Garbed and CPU. 01 and 02 will not work. Even a n/a from a 03 up won't work in the first two years.

All I need to do is get the ecu from the srt4 and it should be fine. If not, I'll just replace all the electronics I need to from the donor to get it working. My cruiser is an 01 limited.

I tested it out on this spare cluster board, so I may just sell this one at some point and use my car's actual cluster, but I'm going to wait until I make new gauge faces.
