Default oil pressure light

OK, I haven't had a chance to look into my gas tank problem any further yet, but i have another issue. Most of the time, when my cruiser has sat for several hours, the oil pressure light will come on when I start the car, but if I shut it off right away, and restart, the light won't be on any more. If I don't restart, the light will just stay on. Any ideas on what would cause this?

My 03 NA did the same thing,,,, and it would work correctly during the cold winter months... suspect is the oil pressure sensor

Mine does the same thing. I'm just too broke to replace the OPS right now.

A faulty oil pressure switch could keep your vehicle from starting, correct, as it's tied into the fuel pump circuit, wouldn't want your car to start with no oil pressure?

I have to change mine as it is leaking. Well I can tell you that whomever designed this little car should pay back all the money he paid for his college education. One site said get it from underneath. Nope, after wasting time jacking and supporting only to crawl under there an say WTF no way. So I go from above. Why put something in this location when there was plenty of room in the front of the engine. Ahh ok. Remove airbox, loosen up fuse box and move that out of the way, ok hey I can see it. Maybe with an inspection mirror I can see more. Ran out of time. So another day. I will order some new plenum gaskets and take it on step further as my injectors need manual cleaning anyway. Cost is not bad. $13 dollars at auto zone and $11 for the socket you need.

I replaced the sensor, and so far, all is good. I really like my pt, and I'm hoping that after I fix a couple things, that I'll have many trouble free miles. Right now, I'm a little over 97,000 miles.
