Default Need Advise on Transmission repair

I just had my car in the shop due to my waterpump going out and they replaced the timing belt and water pump. When I picked it up I was told my tranny was 4 quarts low and they said I had a leak at my (front) control Module. I am not a mechanic and have no clue what this is. He said about $90 to fix it. Is there such a thing and does it leak. Just want to make sure I am not getting told something because I am uninformed. I am planning on getting a second opionion also.

Thanks All.

I would suggest not driving it with the transmission 4 quarts low on oil.

You will need to verify where the transmission leak is before getting an estimate to fix it.

Was the car driving and shifting okay BEFORE you took it in to the shop? If so, I'd say they're trying to screw you over. If not, then that's a cheap enough fix. I just find it very hard to believe there wouldn't have been some type of shifting issues if it was a gallon low on fluid. BUT, I'm not a mechanic, so what do I know, right?

I read this as the shop cared enough to check the fluids, added four quarts, notified him of the leak, and quoted him a good price to fix a messy job.

Otherwise they would not have known it was four quarts low. I think we've all seen how much the trans fluid level changes on the dipstick adding even a small amount of fluid.

Don't be so hard on the shop... all threads, not just the one. IMO
