Default Billy Boat Exhaust

Hey, I was wondering if any of you have the Billy Boat FVIP-0400 exhaust installed on your Cruiser? I am looking for a single cat-back exhaust for my Cruiser, but I am not finding many, and the ones I do find are extreamly expensive. This one is $450, and the cheapest I've seen the BTG one is $460. I think both prices are nuts for a simple cat-back, especially for a car like this.

Let me know if anyone has any sugestions, let me know. I would really like a 2.5 inch cat-back. I know the BTG is a 2.25, but I am not sure about the Billy Boat. I know Billy Boat makes good systems, but I just dont know if its worth the money.

Thanks,
Matt

Thats more like it, I cant believe I didnt find that one while looking. I did find the BTG one for $430, but thats still WAY to much for me. Only thing I see a problem maybe is that its not stainless. How is yours holding up? I know the stock one probably isnt stainless either, but getting a new one stainless, I wouldnt have to worry about it again. How does it sound? Is it more bassy and such? How about highway noise? I drive a lot on 75 going to and from school on the weekends (about 2 hours).

Thanks for the info, I will definatly check into it.

Matt

I see at JC Whitney, they also have a PaceSetter exhaust. But it doesnt say what size the pipes are? Does anyone know if they are 2.5 inch, or are then the same as stock 2.25 inch?

Does anyone happen to have this exhaust? This one is $190 plus shipping. Thats a lot closer to my price range, so is the Heartthrob. Let me know what you think of this PaceSetter system if anyones has it, or has heard anything about it wether good or bad.

Thanks everyone!

Matt

Green i know youve talked about this exhaust before but: how does it sound? And how did the buttdyno register after you installed it?

I have also been looking at the BTG catback mostly because of the supposed performance gain. If i can get the same gain with a system that looks stock, all the better for me since im wanting to keep my cruiser a sleeper.

Mine is holding up fine. I live in Oregon where we get our share of rain. Should last a lot longer than the stock system, too. Anything stainless is going to cost you more money. It started out about one step above stock, but now that it is broken in it is two steps above stock, not too loud at all. When I first got it I thought it was too quiet and was happy when it got broken in. It has a low rumble and sounds great. No where near being ricey. My wife even likes it. There isn't a drone at 3,000 rpm, highway speeds. You can easily have a normal conversation. Keep in mind that I have a 5 speed so I don't know about an auto. I do know of others who have an auto and like it.....Don't know about the Pacesetter but since it says it's a perfect replacement for factory-original muffler system I would think it is probably 2 1/4". I would think if it was a 2 1/2" system it would say so.

Like I was telling Matt, sound is two steps above stock, not loud at all. A nice low rumble. Butt dyno says I picked up some ponies, but I can only give you my viewpoint from a turbo point of view. I don't know what it will do for a N/A PT. For my GT the turbo spooled up a bit faster and therefore my car was a little quicker. Nothing like the hp when I added stage 1 though. I also have an intake with a 2" ram air hose coming from the front of the car next to the fog light. For a good exhaust system to be of the most benefit you need to have a good intake. I know my '01 benefitted when I installed an Airade intake to go along with my Dynomax exhaust. A good intake and a good exhaust compliment each other.

Here's a better price on a BTG:

It's up to you, but to me, stainless is worth it.

I had the paceSetter. It's 2 1/2 mandrel bend piping but the muffler itself is crap and VERY LOUD! I kept the piping and added a DynoMax muffler.

You don't need to get the whole cat-back system. Buy a muffler you like, go down to a exhaust shop, and have them repalce the stock one with it. Even after work it's still alot cheaper then buying the whole system.
Also, don't worry about the size of the pipes either. It's just a small 4-banger, it's not going to need big exhaust pipes. (expect, maybe if it does have a Turbo)
