Angry My automatic transmission acts as if I'm driving a manual

Hello all! My 2002 pt cruiser ran fine before it went out. I have 143000 mi on it everything is sound on it. Well maintained. Anyways I was driving home and made it to about a mile from my house and transmission started acting like I was fanning a clutch pedal. Drive train was in and out it revs just doesn't want to engage gears. Only parts replaced recently was an alternator. I flushed tyranny fluid out and it worked for a couple days then back to not engaging drive. Not a significant amount of metal in pan, at least didn't look major only specs. Anyone able to help me?

Is your engine light on? If so what are the codes?

You might get an P0700 trouble code for a generic transmission trouble code and need to take it to a transmission shop where some will scan the transmission codes for free.

I don't remember honestly. I was hoping something cheap but I bought another pt with a blown head for cheaper than a used tyranny but after taking it out I'm looking for a cheaper option lol. This is my first front wheel drive car. I'm gonna run codes tomorrow and I'll check back with you. Thank you for your help! And yes my engine light is on.

You say you flushed the tranny. Did you replace the filter? Sounds to me like it's stopped up for some reason.

Yes I replaced the filter. I was wondering whether it could be transmission pump?

ad an 03 automatic and at 133,000 it slipped twice before actinglike it run out of fluid. Nothing in pan, no visual damage to gears or clutches. Bought a used one, installed and back on the road again..

Dude, Chrysler has never produced any type of Dexron transmission fluid. I think you meant Mopar ATF+4, right? General Motors created and copyrighted the Dexron name.
