Default Chrome header fitment

I have a buddy that sold his PT. He had acquired a chrome header for it but never installed it. He has a non-turbo car.

I'm considering adding it to "Retro", since I'm also upgrading to a dual exhaust. Does anyone know if this would fit a turbo-lite car, or are the exhaust manifolds/fittings different?

Also, what would be a fair price for this?

There is no "fair price" where your PT is concerned IF you have a turbo PT.

The NA header will simply NOT fit your car.

I was afraid of that... Probably for the best anyway - not like I need it.

So back to the other part of the question, what's a fair price to a non-turbo owner?

It can depend on the want to have or need to sell. I bought a Hedman hedder for my Cruiser, new in the box for $20.

I was just looking on ebay and they range from $40 to about $500. It all goes back to how bad you want it and how bad they want to sell it.

Fair enough. It belongs to a friend so I was just trying to get an idea of what he ought to ask for it. I think he was hoping for around $100 (it's chromed and includes the gaskets). Just trying to get a sense of whether that was reasonable I guess...

I feel that is within reason. Now he needs to find that person.

If it's the

1. APC ceramic coated (looks like chrome) then the price new back in 04 - 05 - 06 etc. was around $280.00. It was the 4-1 configuration.

2. OBX was around #350.00 and is the 4-1 configuration.

3. Headman 4-1 ceramic coated in the 4-1 configuration was around $380.00

4. Headman ceramic coated 4-2-1 configuration was around $480.00 new back then.

5. JBA made a 4-1 configuration that was around $300.00 when new.

I tried #1, #3, #4 and #5. I noticed no difference between the stock cast manifold and #1 and #3 and #5.

The #4 Headman 4-2-1 configuration gave me a significant improvement in my low to mid range performance. For the "around the town" driving that most of us do, it was well worth my investment. I am still using that same Hedman 4-2-1 today and it has given me absolutely no problems since the original install back in 2005.

Headman was the only company that produced a 4-2-1 style header for the PT.

As far as prices today for a used one, it will be what the current market will bare.

MAKE SURE that you're buying a 4-2-1 configuration or you're wasting your time and most importantly, your money.

Jerry

Thanks for all the info. Once I know what it is and have pics I'll post it in the classifieds in case anyone here is interested...
