Default 2006 pt cruiser airbag light and seatbelt light

Does anybody have any info on the sensors in the seats on which it could be? i was told the strain gauge sensor. Saw every airbag section on here. theres no help. Airbag light isnt the bad ding its the seatbelt light that dings if we have 2 passengers even with the seatbelts on. but if somebody gets out of the passenger side it doesnt ding with one seatbelt on.

The seatbelt on the front passenger side may be bad.

I had the airbag ding problem. The ding would chime once every 30 seconds for about 5 minutes on every drive whether there was a passenger buckled in the front passenger seat or not and whether the belt was buckled with an empty seat or not.

What worked for a little time for me was to disconnect the battery (so you don't accidentally set off the airbag detonators) and disconnect/reconnect each of the yellow connectors beneath the front passenger seat. These are the seatbelt/SRS harness connectors.

I had the car checked with an SRS OBD2 diagnostic reader (not just the standard OBD2 engine code reader) and the code indicated a seatbelt problem.

I finally found a Gen2 PT in the junkyards and got a seatbelt latch. When I plugged it into the car, the ding went away and it's been gone since.

My thread

Your problem is also probably related to the SRS wiring or sensors. A useful tool is a T45 drive socket to remove the front passenger seat rear bolts. I've seen several Gen2 PT's and the bolts are different so check yours first before buying any tools. When scrounging at a junkyard, a pair of big vise grips or channel lock pliers will work in a pinch.
