Default Transmission issue??

04 turbo PT Auto
first off I noticed that when I slowed down to like 10mph and got back on the gas I would hear a slight thunk sound? and I could feel it jerk a bit..

driving it was fine and it shifted fine no issues..
was driving it today and at 55mph the RPMs suddenly jumped up?? so I pulled over and put it in park to see if it would pull out and shift through all the gears.
whne I put it in gear and tryed to pull out it made a chunking sound? and would hardly pull out? it moved about 50yards very slow,I stopped again and the it would not move at all in gear?

anyone ever have this? Could it just be the axil stripped? or I pray not the trans..could that happen?

just got it home and gonna look at it today..now I got 2 PTs setting that wont run lol..

I would check the miter mounts. Especially the middle one. This will creat slack in the drive line. Your thunk.

At first when you said thunk, I was thunking lower control arm bushings. But with it not moving, I have to agree with Danny. It sounds more like your motor has shifted. A LOT! Check that lower engine strut mount too. Maybe the rubber has broken out of it completely.

Did you check the fluid? That is always step #1 with an auto in my experience. With the old torqueflites when the are low in fluid it would take revs to build pressure and they could make a thumping sound when the finally engage. Thankfully, I try to be a 4 (later 5, now 6) speed man.

My turbo is an autostick. I THINK they put that in the non turbos too. I'm thinking they all have the 41TE transmissions, but I'm NOT a mechanic. And if your motor mounts are busted, the engine can shift far enough to pull a half shaft out of the transmission. I would think that if that happened though, you'd have a leak. IDK, just guessing.
