The separate/remote SBC style TCM was used on the first two years (2001, 2002) only. You have a 2003 PT. It was the first year for the NGC control unit. It was used til 2006 when CanBus/TIPM took over.

Your TCM is contained in the PCM.

I bought the stage 1 PCM upgrade. Does that mean by having the PCM programmed and installing it I will be replacing the TCM at the same time? Thanks for the reply. This car is pissing me off.

Yup, when you install the S1, you will be replacing the TCM at the same time.

ever since the PT cruiser came out, the engineers had designed them with the CANBUS systems.

But they didn't actually implement the CANBUS until the 2006 model year makeover.

The TCM, or Transmission control Module.
Yes it is within the PCM, The 41TE, was one of the first electronically shifted automotive transmissions built by Chrysler, and one of the most technically advanced for it's time. It has a solenoid pack attached to the side of the transmission that is electronically controlled by the PCM.
This is why when you see PCM's for the PT, you see them listed as Auto or Manual. Auto PCMs will have the transmission control circuits enabled within.
