Post Want to mod my 2001 pt cruiser. Need help

I have 2001 pt cruiser with some simple mods done to it. But I want to do more as any hot rodder would want to do. I plan to to build the motor to make something like 450hp with a turbo, and going to go through the trans to set it up for drag racing. Here is the problem, I know the car has a speed limiter and a rev limiter, is there a way to remove them? If not is there a way I can set up a stand alone ECM, while me keeping the original gauge cluster, and keep the original center consul to operate the windows, having the everything, and to keep my anti-theft? All I want to do is remove the speed limiter and the rev limiter to have the potential of making a 10 sec pass in the quarter. I will not take no for an answer. There has to be some way around it. Where there is a will, there is a way!

Welcome to the forum.

Your starting with the wrong car, or if you want to keep what you have, drop the engine out and get yourself something that will meet your needs. Chrysler did it here...

In case you didn't recognize that engine, it's a V10 Viper shoehorned into a PT.

If you have enough $$$$ anything is possible but after looking at the PT CREW's drag racing list, nobody, that includs all 100 of the people that have highly modified their cruisers with big turbo's have reached into the 10's in the 1/4 mile.

There are others but by the time they're done, all they are using is the shell of the PT and you'll notice, they aren't front wheel drive anymore.

Okay, then I have one question CREWZIN, is the speed limiter in the ECM OR PCM?

Simple answer PCM.

Sorry, water heater went out in the house and had to go oversee the $after hours$ plumber that came to the house.

Where can I get a job for $154.50 for an hours work?

Apparently, plumber.

Welcome to the forum from Texas. This is a great car to get around in, not sure about ten second quarter. When I get there, I get there.

These remove the speed limiter. Someone posted it recently... Can't find the thread though. I'm on my phone. http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...421_135139.jpg

You'd likely be better off on a neon forum or over at ptcrew. Literally everyone here has far more realistic goals.

A) judging by the fact you're driving a used 2001 PT cruiser automatic, and want to make a 10 second quarter, guess what - not even the most elite supercars - just a handful - can reach this number.
B) you haven't even searched around before posting, which tells me that your automatic 2.4L naturally aspirated engine is a poor choice to begin with
C) wanting to turbo a model that is without a turbo, when there are GT models with turbo, and you don't have one
D) you believe removing the electronic speed limiter is the reason you can't make a 10 second quarter
E) if you can prove me wrong within 365 days, with an accurate timeslip at an accredited NHRA sanctioned event with proof, I will send you $100 to a paypal email of your choice
F) enjoy the roast of your day

Okay
1) Just saying, you don't need to be a jerk about it.
2) My car is a 2001 Pt cruiser Limited MANUAL!!! not automatic.
3) I'm not delusional, I know what I getting myself into. I worked in a engine machine shop building motors for drag cars for that can run the quarter in 7 sec for 3 years. the motor is not staying stock what so ever. I have the resources to do it.
4) I didn't picked the car, my Dad bought the car new when it released. He then gave the car to me. I will never sell the car, cause it has great sentimentally value to me.
5) I asked the question because I never worked with a car were the ECU controls everything. I worked more with Chevy Big Blocks, an old school muscle cars. If I need to run a stand alone ECU, I will, I don't have a problem with that.
6)The reason I want it to run 10 sec is because I want to be different. I don't want to be like everyone else that runs a Neon. I already have a 2 drag cars, one runs 10 sec flat on a good day, and the other runs 8.90's.
7) Even if I can't get it to run 10 sec, if I can get it to run 11 sec I be happy. 8) I know there is a Dodge Neon out there that can run 9.84 in the quarter. So if they can do it, i know I can.
Anyway thanks for the help guys at least I know what I have to do now. Oh and the by the way, just because someone says it can't be done, doesn't mean it can't. At one time someone said "You can't get a Honda Civic to run 10 sec in the quarter mile". Now look at them, a hand full of them is running in the 9's.

ALL MOTOR naturally aspirated 2.4 ?
Even with a very light early 90s civic hatchback with hondata, and a K20A motor, perfectly tuned, you can expect a mid 12's quarter.
I have a feeling you won't be collecting that $100 in 99 days.
