Default Needing Help

I'm working on a friends 04 pt non turbo manual trans. It died on her and had it towed to me. It cranks over but no start. Timing belt is good and so is fuel pressure, but no spark. When I went to check for any codes, I noticed that the service engine light does not come on at all, ever. All fuses and relays are good. The instrument cluster is sealed so theres no way to check the bulb. Any help will be greatly appreciated .

Welcome to the forum from Texas.

With a no spark issue, I would start with checking the coil pack and working back from there. Check the wire connection and make sure it not broke and come loose. Check for voltage going to the coil with a multimeter.

The service engine light might be covered with a piece of black tape.

Are you getting any engine trouble codes with an OBDII Scan Tool?

Try pulling the camshaft sensor wire connector off the sensor, start the engine and see if the code for it comes up if you are not getting any engine trouble codes.

No tape on light, There were no codes, unplugged cam sensor and then got the code for it. Still no spark. crank sensor and coil pak tested good. Getting a steady 5 volts on 1 and 3 wires to the cam sensor. service manual is no help

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I will tell you that if the engine is turning over and not starting there will be a few DTCs. Unless there is a harness to PCM problem, a fried ECM or the diagnostic connector is not communicating with your Diagnostic tool.

Make sure the ignition coil wire plug is not switched with the camshaft sensor plug.

Hello and thanx for replying. I pull the plug on the cam sensor and cranked the engine and sure enough, I got a code for it. Plugged it back in cleared the code, cranked it again, still no spark and no codes
