Your options are fairly limited for a 2002 PT. Straight pipe exhaust seems to help a little. The cold air intakes look nice but most folks say that there is no performance gain on a PT. That's my experience with them too.

Reports on those plug in chips are very sketchy and no one has yet reported any comparable gains on a non-turbo PT. The throttle body plates do nothing and aren't even based on good science.

The best bolt-on for a non-turbo PT may be a performance PCM from Syked Tuning. As far as I know, he's the only one that offers a performance tune for the early PT's like yours with the Pre-NGC (JTEC) PCM's. Here's a link:

2001-2002 Pt Cruiser Tuning

And here's what Kevin (the owner) says about it:

Quote:
Syked Tuning can take your N/A platform to the next level. Modifying the ignition timing, fuel maps, open loop triggers and much more can create phenomenal power gains on Premium pump gas.The average gain seen are from 12-16 whp over stock without sacrificing reliability. With more modifications more whp has been gained.
If me, I'd call Kevin and see what else he recommends to go with his performance PCM for these early PT's.

Beyond that, there are a few performance camshafts that will work in a non-turbo PT. Just be sure to get a set made on new blanks. Others may have some additional good ideas for you as well.

All this said, the best plan is to just sell your N/A PT and buy a GT. Right now, the cost between the two is not much. I only spent around a $100 or so more for my very clean 2005 GT than I got when I sold my 2001 Limited.

i'd stick a $15 cone filter on the TB and just beat on the car how it is. getting rid of the airbox got rid of the "dead spot" i felt at 4000rpm. you can see what i mean for free. disconnect the air box tube and go floor it around the block.

you can get a larger throttle body off of an automatic PT which will make the throttle feel more sensitive throttle body differences

neither will make you win any races, but nothing you do to that car will. here's my 02 beating on it with the mods above and the rear seats out.
My car just got slower

realistically, but not practical, best bang for the buck would be to go ape shti with the weight reduction. Project El Cheepo v2.4

Best investment for more power is a wet Nitrous system.

up to 75hp with NO PCM calibration or other modifications needed.

Nitrous and a PCM-tune with premium gas would be the best options.
