Default Drive belts

Other than the timing belt, how many drive belts are there? I want to change the belts on my 2004 Dream Cruiser with OEM belts, but not exactly sure what to order.

Cool Re: Drive belts

There are two accessory belts. One for the alternator and one for the power steering/air conditioner compressor.

Thanks, I got a little confused when looking on the rockauto.com website. I was thinking of ordering the "BANDO" brand. Any thoughts?

You can get the Gates "Blue" racing belts for the PT. I put these on my GT and the quality and look was outstanding. Most name brand belts will do the job. But if you want something extra, these are a great choice.

i have found no difference using Gates and Dayco or Bando for accessory belts. i beat on cars and drive manual transmission vehicles, meaning high rpm quick/abrupt/violent changes in rpm, etc. i've yet to break or overly stretch a belt. i think Bando are made in japan, dayco in USA, and gates are made in USA and Mexico. for that reason i like dayco better, but i would prefer the US made part even if it was inferior...so maybe i'm a bit biased. i'm currently using gates... i don't think it matters.

too much tension will make your alternator fail before it will ruin the belt. be gentle adjusting the tensioner. i run mine fairly loose to the point it may let out a single chirp on a cold start.

I bought "BANDO" because they are OEM for the PT, so I was told. I also needed the belt tensioner.
