If you think you have a refrigerant issue regarding oil % to Freon I HIGHLY recommend that you take it to a shop that advertising performing AC repairs.
They will completely evac your system and determine if it warrants replacing or simply reinstalling to proper levels and pressure. Without ALL the proper AC service equipment this can not successfully perform on a DIY level.

If you are asking the questions , the first response then I can tell you for your own safety and to prevent damage to your AC system DONT ATTEMPT a correction yourself.

the only way i have removed oil from a compressor was by accident. i removed the compressor and turned it upside down. you could remove it from the car, empty it, and add correct amount of oil. IMO there is no way to accurately measure unless you start from empty.

i do all my own work, but i will still take my car to a shop for AC service. i want my AC to be COLD and i know they can get it colder than i can, since i can't properly evacuate the system and remove moisture from the lines. if you can't properly do that, you do not have the right tools.

Welcome to the forum.

If me, I would first take the PT to a shop and ask how much it would cost to have my AC system discharged, drained of oil, and then refilled. There's a chance a shop can do this cheaper than you can do it at home.

If trying to do this at home, the problem is that there is usually no good way to discharge the system at home without letting all the Freon off into the air. While I'm sure we've all done this many times before we knew better, it now become a moral questions we each have to answer for ourselves.

Once the system is discharged (however it's done), I'd try removing the high pressure switch on the back of the compressor. These are know to leak oil when the o-ring goes bad. So it's possible I could get 3 oz. of oil out of it that way. Of course, I would be guessing how much oil I lost during the discharge too. But if successful, I'd then install a new o-ring on the switch, reinstall it, properly vac the system back down and then fill with the right amount of Freon.

But using a shop is going to be much better since they can remove almost all the oil and then refill to the proper level. It's better for the environment, better for your car and better for you as well.
