Question Engine off Key out AC and dash lights still on

2005 PT Cruiser
This morning I started my car it it hesitated but would not crank. I tried starting it again and nothing. I noticed after I took the key out of the ignition that the AC still worked and the lights were on the dash - engine, oil, seat belt.

In May I had the Cam Shaft sensor replaced.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you checked your ignition switch? There is a pin or something that might have broken off between the key cylinder and the ignition actuator allowing power from the ignition switch to stay on.

Example of a broken piece in the ignition assembly

So we do think it is the ignition switch but now I need to find out if I have anti theft on the car. the dealer said yes with by just looking at the key another repair place said no. I don't trust/like the dealership near me. Is ther a website i can go to to find out if I do/don't have anti theft? My dad cab make the repair. but the dealer said it needs to be programmed. The guy barely looked up from his paperwork and the other seems new and didn't know what he what doing.

You can go this website and get the Build Sheet for your PT:

https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.html

On the left hand side click on Equipment Listing

Then enter the vehicle VIN in the white box and click the red Search box
