Default No a/c, no power steering, battery light on.

Hello everyone again. 20 minutes ago as I was coming home the a/c started getting warm then the power steering got stiff and the battery light turned on. I won't be able to get it up in the air til tomorrow but I just wanted a bit of advice? Is it possible both belts broke at the same time? Sounds weird! Could one have broken and thrown the other? Is there some other major failure that would cause this? I was able to make it home about 8 miles from where it happened. 2008 base model automatic. Any tips would be great. Gotta miss a day of work now! Damn Thank my friends.

Time to check out those drive belts. And yes, if one breaks or comes off it can make the other one come off too. I'd say there's a 90% chance that your belts off based on what you've said.

Let us know what you find.

So I just got under and i found this. Both belts gone and jammed up in the crankshaft pulley and my alternator has a bushing that i think it doesn't need.

Was any work done to it recently? You might want to check to make sure the belt alignment is correct otherwise the belts might come off again.

i did the head a while back. this has been like this for a while. It is definitely my fault! The Alignment is off. From the pic if you look i cannot tighten the alternator to where it is straight due to that bushing. Should it be there? its preventing the alternator from bottoming out. If i remove it won't there be play? I dun goofed.

HA HA HA HA.. You Think? Too Funny. That's Armor all... No that was actually my next item on the list but this crap killed my list. So does the bushing belong?

I would suggest looking at the Factory Shop Manual or part assembly diagram.

I can't get a picture of it on my 2008 Pt Cruiser as I am doing work on one of my other vehicles and I would need to raise the front of the Pt Cruiser to get this picture.

Reading back through all of your posts, it looks like you had the alternator off of the vehicle around 03/16.

This is from the Parts Catalog:

#6 is the nut with the retainer that you can see in the OP's pic, but the sketch doesn't show or mention anything about a spacer.
