Question Oil pressure sending unit?

Hello,

I just pulled and replaced multiple parts on my 01 non turbo 2.4L PT Cruiser. It started and is acting normal, however my oil light keeps turning on and off at random times... I am pretty sure it's the sending unit, but my question is, am I able to drive my PT without damaging the engine or is this something I need to fix right away?

As long as your oil level is full and you don't hear any funky engine sounds (like knocking or tapping), you're okay. The OPS is a common failure point on the PT's. JUST DON'T GET A NEW ONE FROM AUTOZONE. Go to a NAPA store and get one.

I got mine from AutoZone. Outlasted the car.

You were lucky, Rob! I was a PSM for them for 3 years and saw a LOT of their crap parts come back defective. I used to bench test every alternator, starter and control module that I sold before I'd let the customer leave with it. Upper management didn't like it, (I didn't give a shit), but I didn't have many parts I sold get returned. I finally got fed up with their nonsense and went to work for Advance. Not much better there.

I recently had to replace mine on my 2004. It was leaking. I had the new one installed, and that leaked as well. So, I took it back and got the more expensive one and it's been OK.

Both of mine were purchased at Advance Auto.

And as stated above. If the oil level is OK and you don't hear noises you should be OK.

I had the same thing happen on a 1996 Mazda I once had.
