Default 2006 PT TPM issues

Hi all: new to Forum. I have a 2006 Base PT. 45,000 - just bought it a few months ago. Really in fine condition, no rust, no dings or dents, under carriage very clean. It had an aftermarket alarm which I completely removed. I changed the water pump, idler and Timing belt as a precaution. Just replaced the Cam Sensor since it was bucking at any speed. Jusr after the purchase the TPM module had to be changed as well since the wipers would work and then not work. same issue with windows. Then intermittant no start and no crank. The MF switch did not fix it. Two TPM's later and a month figuring this out, along with a ignition switch replacement it has been working fine. Last night we had a major rain storm. Car started in the morning however no Head Lights, blinkers, flashers or brake lights or wipers. All fuses are good. Of course I was out of town. On my way home 2 hours later everything started to work fine. FYI 80+ degrees out. Now it is still hot. Any thoughts? Is there a relay to look for or just the TPM controls it (2006)? Also very....very strange the drivers seat has a water stain now since the storm however NO WATER anywhere in the interior. I have thick rubber mats which would catch any water - nothing, totally dry. Also the seat was dry too. I'm at a loss. Just cant afford to get stuck when on a trip.
Thanks JRR

HI! Welcome to the Forum from the little Hamlet of Pennellville, NY. I also have a 2006. I don't have any suggestions, but you certainly came to the right place. I eagerly await those who may be able to help you- in case I need answers some day.

Welcome to the forum

Where did you get the replacement TIPM's from, a salvage yard or remanufactured?

Either way, they require programming after installation.

If you got them from a salvage yard, you can try following the programming instructions provided with a Dorman remanufactured one. Another member recently reported that he did just that with one he got from a salvage yard and it worked for him. Following the programming sequence the TIPM will learn the VIN and everything should work.

You can get a copy of the Dorman TIPM instructions from my Dropbox link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/f39dr85vbn...tions.pdf?dl=0

Before trying the programming instructions, you might want to disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 20 minutes and then start from there.

When you get a chance please go to Welcome New PT Cruiser Members - PT Cruiser Forum and create an intro thread.

Pull fuses 7-8 and 27-28 up & down 4-5 times encase any surface rust is on them. You don't have to remove them, if you want to remove them...pull towards one side when lifting up.
