Default 2001 manual transmission issue

New to the forum and not a car guy, so bear with my description...

When I shift into first, it does not catch right away. Sometimes it will catch if I push hard on the pedal and then take my foot off. Then it will repeat with 2nd and 3rd gear.

It almost feels like when you first learn how to drive a manual transmission, where you push on the gas while easing to slowly off the clutch

Any ideas or advice would be most helpful

First, welcome to the forum. Please go to the new members section and tell us more about yourself and your Cruiser.

Second, you didn't state how many miles are on your Cruiser. Being that it is a 2001, probably 150,000 or more. It sounds like your clutch is worn and needs to be replaced. If this is the case, I wouldn't go too far from home. There is a chance you could get stranded.

Welcome to the Forum from the Little Hamlet of Pennellville, NY!

VsandFords is on the right track. It's either a worn clutch, or it's out of adjustment. Better get it checked as soon as you can.

Literally an hour after my post, taking it to a shop, broke down.

Great timing
