On the new transmissions (e.g. 41TE), the numbers and letters actually
mean something:
4 amount of forward gears
1 the torque rating for the trans (on a 1-8 scale 1 lowest 8 strongest)
t or r transaxle or rear wheel drive
e or h electronic or hydraulic
What that means in quantifiable numbers, I don't know. However, having had experience with these trans during there infancy of the early 90's, I'd say it's hit or miss. Although I do know of a gentleman who built a 400hp Nitrous fed Daytona that used the A-604 (41TE forerunner) to get power to the ground. It took him a couple years to break his tranny. I would say that any reasonable power the majority of us are dealing with will be fine. Now, if you are going for a full AGP T3/T4 swap, larger injectors, Apexi SAFC, 3" O2 housing, cat and exhaust, and other little goodies I don't want to go into, than you may want to build it up a bit or switch to a 5 speed.
Just my 0.02....

How come "The People" in the First Amendment means The People; "the People" in the Fourth Amendment means The People; but "the People" in the Second Amendment (ratified in 1791) means the National Guard (created by an Act of Congress in 1903)?
