Yeah.... that seems to be the price. It isn't water, it ain't $2 a quart. It's synthetic trans fluid.

Whether it is fully synthetic or a synthetic blend depends on the brand. Castrol makes fully synthetic and labels it as such. Mobil is only a synthetic blend rather than fully synthetic and also labels it accordingly. Who knows what you are getting in the ones that do not specify.

Prices of ATF will vary depending on where the retailer purchases his stock from and how much they purchase. The warehouse distributors have several pricing structures that regulates the cost per case. The more any one purchases the cheaper the case price is. Also on rare occasions the distributors get incentive discounts to pass to their accounts which also depends on how much the account buys what will be offered to them. So in reality there is no single retailer that will have the best price all the time or all year long. When I owned operated my Auto related business I would have a single brand as the lost leader like say Valvoline that I sold at almost my cost just to get people in the door to buy other things. Oh and they sponsored my Race car.
along with FRAM,Bendix, Champion......but I also got deeper discounts from the warehouse distributors because of these brand names on my car.

Some can also check with Transmission service shops that might sell small quantities to you that often are cheaper then you can get anywhere. Some of them buy in large 50 gallon containers or larger But it does require a little rapport with them before they will sell to you.
We have one active forum member that is a Auto Parts Warehouse Distributor manager that I am sure can support my responses?

Lowest cost per severe service mile would be AMSOIL ATF at $9.90 a quart wholesale (less if bought by the case, gallon or 2.5 gallon jugs) as it is recommended/warranted for double the severe service miles recommended by the OEM.https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...-EA?zo=1181889 .

The online discount codes don't work on most oil products at Advance Auto. But you can use your "Speed Perks" if you got 'em.

Here in paradise and the blessed home of Walmart, our local Super Store has Super Tech ATF Plus 4 at $4.27 plus tax. That's going to be the lowest I've found.

PS: I've had a long love-hate relationship with the 41TE transmission. So I prefer the Castrol Transmax ATF +4. I don't know if it's any better than the Walmart brand or any other discount brand. But it's one less thing to worry about when it comes to these transmissions.

I don't see where they offer on site pickup. Pretty sure they want that $19.87 shipping.

Iím not to concerned about how much trans fluid costs. Iíll just buy the best stuff thatís available at an auto store. 20 bucks 40 bucks. Who cares. We donít change it that much.

How many miles are you going on a fluid change anyway?

If you had a fleet of vehicles. Iíd understand.
