well I guess my friends are just different. A couple people like it, but 90 percent of my "peers" say they hate it. It doesnt bother me any, I like it and thats pretty much all that matters.

When I removed the spare tire and jack today, my forearm caught the muffler, which was about 3000 degrees at the time, burning the crap out of my arm. Reminder to everyone, dont touch the muffler

I'm sorry, but I hope you don't plan to leave the Tire and jack out Permenetley. If so, then thats a stupid decision. What are you going to do if you get a flat tire??

You don't have a race car, get used to it. No point in trying to save a little weight thats going to cause you major problems down the road.

I know you're young and a few years ago when I was 16 I would have probally done the same thing (luckily i didn't think about it) but it's still a stupid thing to do.

I also have a 2002 PT (natural aspiration) and I'm looking to modify it for quiker pick up and go. Something that I happened upon was this computer chip that bypasses the regulator so that it allow for another 17 HP (or something like that anways) and a higher speed. this costs about $350 on sale, however, so it isn't cheap. I dont know much more about it then that, and I haven't bought one yet. I was wondering if anyone here has more insight into this chip?

I know that the crusier only has what, 120 HP? And I mean natually aspirated, of course. If I go ahead, drop a K&N filter, K&N cold air intake, remove the silencers (does this actually effect HP?), and buy a more effective muffler, how much performance would my PT gain? I mean, I'm only looking for 20-30 more HP, you know. Just something to make driving it that much more fun (because more power always = fun). Could anyone venture a guess as to what the cost to fun ratio would be? (take into account the fun one has while tinkering with one's PT)

IMHO, For the $$'s you are planning on spending, if it was me, I'd look for a newer model GT. A lot of the things you are planning to do on your 2001 would already be in the 2003-4 GT.

Yes, I know you are young with a low paying job, but if you like the PT that much, sell the 2001 and put what you want to spend in a newer model.
