Default mpg

I have really been tracking my fuel mileage and comparing it to the reading shown by the display. My question is. How accurate is the reading because the numbers don match. If i manualy figure it i get a consistantly higher number than the readout shows. Has anyone else noticed this. Is there a way to recalibrate it.

to the best of my knowledge they always err on the low side. this likely prevents lawsuits if someone sees they have 100 miles until empty and then runs out of gas in 80 and causes an accident.

honda had speedometers reading 3.5% low to err on the side of caution and then got sued. customers said they were doing it to save money on warranties and add mileage overages to leased cars.

can't make everyone happy. just be happy you do better than it says.

some threads here report the car saying 14 when they get 21.4, another saying it read 19 when they consistently get 22. so what you are writing is normal. no way to correct it that i am aware of. you could possibly fill the car with extra weight and lower the air pressure in the tires to make it match

Lol i think i will keep it as is, it consistantly says 25 .3 never any higher and i frequently get 27 if i figure gallons added into miles driven. I will take it though.
