Red face Need Help

Have 2005 PT Touring 150,000 miles. Have had since new and maintenance up to date. Have taken very good care of car. My problem is car idles great no problem, then out of the blue, was stopped at red light then the car started cutting out no power when acceleration was applied jerking, skipping but never died. Would have to go to 2nd gear at 10 mph, 3rd at 20 mph, 4th at 25-30 and 5th at 40. When I would finally get to 5th gear car would then run smooth as long as I would not go over 60 mph. Just got car fully serviced 4 days ago from my trusted mechanic. What the heck is going on... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Sounds like you need to take it back to "trusted mechanic" to me. Was it running okay before he worked on it? Get the codes read first at Autozone or whatever parts store you're close to and take the list with you. Post the codes here too. MAYBE your catalytic converter is clogging up. IDK, I'm NOT an ASE Certified Master Mechanic.

Take it back to your mechanic. There are such things as coincidence, but this happening this way after just being serviced, in any way, should point you to this.

Welcome to the forum.

You should introduce yourself and tell us about your Pt Cruiser.

WELCOME and Forum Rules

From the information you have given so far you might be only running on 3 cylinders. If your check engine light is on get the engine trouble codes at an auto parts store that offers it for free and post what they are. See if one of the spark plug wires is not connected to the spark plug.

It might be worth it to buy your own OBDII Scan tool to see if the problem might be something you can repair yourself. This way you have done the diagnosis and know more about what the problem might be.

P0344 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent

Possible Causes:
1. Wiring harness fault 5v supply circuit open or shorted to ground
2. Tone wheel/pulse ring is damaged or corroded
3. Camshaft Position Sensor has failed
4. Camshaft Position Sensor signal circuit is open, shorted to ground
5. Camshaft Position Sensor ground circuit is open
6. PCM has failed

If you have a voltmeter unplug the camshaft sensor plug and see if you have 5 volts going to it. If you don't have 5 volts check the wiring going to the Camshaft Sensor. If the 5 volts is good and you decide to replace the Camshaft sensor make sure you get an OEM Camshaft Sensor. Some members have had intermittent problems with aftermarket sensors. The Camshaft sensor is very easy to replace and easy to get to. Do not over torque the camshaft sensor as they crack easily.

P0441 - EVAP Purge Flow Monitor Fault

Possible Causes:

1. EVAP purge solenoid vacuum line loose, leaking or restricted
2. EVAP purge solenoid stuck leaking, stuck open or stuck closed
3. EVAP purge vacuum line to canister leaking or disconnected
4. EVAP canister leaking, damaged or has failed

I would suggest resetting the DTC's and see if it comes back.
If the codes come back I would suggest checking for any vacuum leaks first. The natural vacuum leak detector (NVLD) and the purge solenoid are mechanical electrical valves. If no vacuum leaks I suggest you check the purge solenoid and the wiring going to it.
If the purge solenoid works properly I would suggest checking the NVLD wiring going to it and if that is okay check the NVLD.
