For the last several months my PT will occasionally not activate the starter when turning the key. It happens after I have driven it and got back in after a short time to crank and drive off. The switch turns freely with the key and all dash lights, exterior lights and radio work. My fix has been to wiggle the steering wheel and stick shift, after which it cranks like normal. Any thoughts?
It is an '06 Touring non-turbo with automatic trans. Thanks! |

I would suggest checking to see if your neutral switch or shifter cable is working properly. If the shifter cable is not adjusted correctly it might tell the neutral switch you are not in park position.

Try adjusting the steering wheel up or down a notch and see if that fixes the problem. The wire harness has been reported to be very tight inside the column by a few members.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to run an additional ground wire from the column to a solid ground point under the dash.
