Default Disabling power locks

The locks on both doors of my vert are locked. The remote doesn't unlock them. I can hear the click under the dash and the trunk still works with the remote. The only way to open the door is by turning the key while pulling the handle. The door opens and immediately locks. I tried disconnecting the wiring harness in the door but that did nothing. What would I have to do to just disable the power locks? I would be happy to just have them work manually as I never lock the doors anyway.

Sounds like the wire connector on the back of the lock cylinder has either come off or a wire is shorted in the harness going to it. You'll have to remove the door panel and moisture liner to get to it and see.

If you disconnected wires on the _power lock actuator_ and still have symptoms, you have a mechanical problem.

Yeah, sounds mechanical to me. I'd pull the door panel off and see if the linkage is hooked up wrong, or binding on something. You should not have to pull the handle while unlocking, and if the power is cut the lock should work manually.

I should have mentioned that the passengers door has the same symptoms. That's what makes me think it is electrical.

What did you disconnect? " I tried disconnecting the wiring harness in the door but that did nothing. "

You might have a stuck manual lock SW or the auto lock system might have failed. Either way pulling the actuator wires will revert to manual for testing. However, if the auto lock system has failed and holding a relay shut, it would be a battery drainer so the root cause must be found.
