Default Not another Seafoam thread

Hi All,

The auto trans has been shifting poorly lately, downshifts a little hard and an occasional slippy upshift. Since the fluid and filter were changed just a couple years ago, I decided to give the Seafoam TransTune a try. I pulled out a pint of fluid and replaced it with the Seafoam.

To my surprise, its shifting almost normally now (I've never put a lot of stock in additives).

The question now is, do I leave it in there or do another fluid/filter change? The bottle says you can leave it in.

Thoughts?

I put about 6 ounces of the seafood oil additive in with the oil change this last time. It has been in there for about 5 months now. It sez it won't change the viscosity of the oil and it sure is cleaning things up. It didn't take to long for the oil to start getting darker from dirt. I plan to change it again in a few months just incase the filter is picking up old lacquer. I will be putting in some seafood with every oil change for a while. The engine is coming up on 61,000 and I believe the last owner let it sit for long periods of time. Anyway, I would say leave it in there....

If it were the oil I would leave it in for a while to let it work. Then change it to get the loosened crud out of the engine. But with the trans, I'm not sure if that's the way to go or not.
