2008 pt cruiser loss of power while operating
Hi. While driving i will either lose power or the engine "chugs". If it completely looses power i can turn it back over. Sometimes it will repeat itself, other times it will be fine. There has never been an engine light. So far i have changed out the cam and crank sensors, cleaned the throttle body, checked spark plugs and wires and reset the TIMP and used injector cleaner. This has been going on for close to 1.5mnths. Does it sound like it could be electrical and if so any clue what? Thank you in advance.

How many miles? Check your cat con to see if it's clogging up.

Re: 2008 pt cruiser loss of power while operating
Trash and/or water in the fuel system can often cause symptom similar to what you are describing. It's an easy and inexpensive thing to check.
If me, I'd get a red bottle of STP fuel cleaner and a yellow bottle of HEAT fuel dryer. I'd put half a bottle of each into my fuel tank along with at least haft a tank of fuel bought at a different services from the one I usually buy fuel at. Then I'd drive the car. If trash or water are causing the problems, chances are the symptoms will go away or at least get better in 20 minutes or so of driving. ;) |

Will be trying tomorrow. |
Re: 2008 pt cruiser loss of power while operating
With the low miles, fuel today will grow bacteria which show up as green growth or slime which can and will clog filters and possibly injectors. Gas stabilizer it self will not remedy the the problem, you must also use a bio-side gas treatment.
Diesel is also susceptible to the same. |
Re: 2008 pt cruiser loss of power while operating
most likely a fuel quality or delivery issue. fuel injectors, ignition coils, and spark plugs when they act up they usually commit codes.
also consider your engine light could not be working. and, some of the triggered codes could just be temporary. did you actually plug in a scanner just after or during the trouble occurance |
Re: 2008 pt cruiser loss of power while operating
Hi ..yes scanner has been used a few times i.e. auto zone and AAMCO. Nothing. Plugs and wires have been checked also used Lucas when this first started happening. I will be checking into everything that has been suggested within the next week or so adding to check the injectors on the list. It seems to really act up if having to sit at a stop light and loves to stall out mid intersection. Forgot to mention that earlier. Ty for your suggestions.
