Default How to remove broken off dipstick tube

It's broken off flush with the top of the engine block with a slight flair on the tube keeping it from going in further. Is there a prescribed method of doing this, or do I just fram around down there until it comes out? Thanks.

Any luck? I would likely gently screw in a tap and tug on it with one of those vice grip slide hammers

I drilled a small hole about a half inch in and put a drywall into it and pulled it out. I then found a bolt that fit perfectly in the Dipstick tube and welded it to the top of the dipstick where i removed the rest of the yellow plastic. So I now have a ratrod dipstick. Or you can just buy a new dipstick.

i'm under the impression he means the actual tube, not the dipstick itself

Might want to be careful using a thread tap, they can be unpredictably brittle and a real PIA if they snap off. Try your local home hardware/depot to find a Tapcon

screw that would fit, it's worth a try.

Yes, the tube the dipstick slides down in is what I'm trying to remove. And the Tapcon seems like a good alternate to a tap. Thanks all!

Sometimes with tubing it helps to insert a close fitting piece of rod, or the shank of a drill, into the tube to keep it from collapsing. If there is enough tubing sticking out, perhaps reinforcing it by inserting the shank of a drill into the tube stub and grabbing the tubing with a vise grips.

An easy-out might do the trick. Works for backing out stripped screws.
