Well guys I know I can probaly trust you guys more than any one else so here it goes. About a 2 weeks ago I noticed that my Airbag light when on. I searched for codes, Nothing. I hooked up a Code reader, nothing. So I said it should go away. Then Last week, My engine light comes on. I check all fluids, oil/filter change, air filter, clean injectors, new wires, plugs, coil. Still light on, check for codes, Nothing once again. I already spent alot of money so do you guys have any suggestions ? |

I recommend a professional scan tool.
A consumer level scanner will not access SRS, ABS, BCM, TCM, and many other protocols. If the light is on, you have codes to read. Simply throwing parts at it is not the right method of diagnosis. My $4200 OTC Genisys or even an updated Snap-on MT2500 will be able to see the datastream that has set the codes in history. |

Well I bought a code reader, and the only code it spit out was P0420
420 The catalyst seems inefficient (#1). Im thinking its either the oxygen sensor Bad fuel gas cap Any other suggestions.

P0420 is only for the downstream O2 sensor.
A gas cap would trip an EVAP leak detection code. Bad gas would trip the upstream O2 sensor as well. You need to watch the datastream to verify the sensor output. It could be an electrical intermittent, PCM fault, sensor performance, or converter malfunction. You CAN'T find the cause without more diagnosis. Fixing the symptom won't cure the cause. There are still SRS codes to read for the airbags. A consumer grade scanner can't access them. |
