Default 2007 just stopped running

My 2007 base model which recently had the ac stop working, but was running great has finally just died. It was running fine, my son when to pick up his sister at the high school and it was idling while he waited. I popped a P0499 code and just shut off and won't restart. He had it towed home.

My friend told me to shoot carb cleaner in the throttle bottle to see if it stated. As soon I do this is runs, but shuts off about 5-10 seconds after I stop spraying. he told me it's the fuel pump. So, I changed this, what a pain, but now it still won't start.

What else should I be looking at? The of the symptons of the P0499 code say won't run, just rough idle. I'm at a lose with this car.

You need to check the timing belt, make sure it's not broken.

One of my first thoughts as well, but it would not run on starter fluid with a timing belt problem.

When you fill up your gas tank, do you replace the hose nozzle immediately or do you keep pumping gas to "top off" the gas tank?

There are several things that could cause the P0499 including a loose gas cap, NVLD switch, canister and others. The best thing to do is to check the things that don't cost any money first, not to start shotgun replace parts.

Assuming the OP is 100% accurate, the problem is fuel related. Don't know that changing the fuel pump would have been my first step. This is what I would do:
  1. Turn the key to on. Do you hear a buzz?
  2. No buzz? Your new fuel pump isn't powering up. Check the fuses and relays and look to the wiring
    1. Look at the ASD relay. IF the pump is good and the wriing is good, something like the PCM or ASD is not sending power to it.
    2. I would look to the PCM and see if is powering up the fuel pump.
    3. Is there a reason it isn't powering up? There usually is a failsafe to cut power to the fuel pump. The old Crown Vics had a rollover feature which would kill power to it. Sometimes there are parameters where the car senses imminent trouble and kills the pump for safety or to save the engine. I am not sure what these would be, but someone might chip in. I would start by looking at the code, which I believe is for EVAP.
IF the pump is turning on, I have no idea.

I would suggest checking to see if you have 12 volts going to the fuel pump. If not your fuel relay in the TIPM might have failed but you need to check everything out first.

If no 12 volts check ground wires at the drivers side fender going to the TIPM.

Old pump wasn't giving the priming buzz. Now after changing it, it still isn't buzzing, so somethingbis keeping it from getting power. All 3 ASD fuses checked & were good. I'm at a loss with this car.

Fuses? Aren't there relays for the ASD, fuel pump, starter and horn? Get out the multimeter and see if there is power going to the pump and at different locations along the way (fuse/relay/whatever) See if the signal to power the pump is coming off the PCM
