Default Where can I get a thingamajig for my wacthamacallit?

I've searched many threads and came up empty handed trying to find a replacement bushing for the shift linkage on the trans end of the cable for AUTO trans. I only see them for the manual trans.

Is there a preferred brand? Link?

These bushings are more of an insert. Refer to my picture for the 2 pivot points.

Can you put an arrow on your pic of what you are looking for?

That's what I thought, looks like it only comes with a new cable:

That's what I was afraid of.

Sad that only the manual shift cables are serviceable.

Dorman makes a manual trans bushing kit and the small one looks like it might work for you. I suspect these kits are cheap so it may be worth the risk. Otherwise you may be able to pop one out at the junkyard.

I thought about that, thank you for reminding me to take a closer look and compare. From that link it appears that there is a difference from naturally aspirated to my turbo car.

I'd fill the cable end with jb weld and drill a hole in the middle when dry. It's an 04 4 400 PT not a Mercedes

PROBLEM SOLVED

I had some time and was feeling energetic today so I removed the center console. Honestly I don't think this center console has been removed before. LOL, most cars will go through their life without it ever being removed. Some cars are easier than others. I know that the PT's were a PITA after reading several threads. I wouldn't expect anything less.

After finally getting the console out of the way, I inspected for anything that could be causing interference with the shifting. Nothing but the usually dust, evidence of a spilled cola, a Toys R Us coupon that expired in 2006 and lost change from a generous car (now I'm up to $20.20 ). So I looked at this as an opportunity to do a good cleaning. I greased up the shifter too. Still, the shifting was difficult. Then I took the shifting cable off of the shifter and moved it by hand, still difficult. I thought it might be the trans itself so I removed the shifter cable from the trans. I could shift the trans by hand fairly easily. Process of elimination, something with the cable itself. I didn't see any area that was crimped or bent but the cable is routed a little too close to the heat. Who knows, maybe over the years wicked things happened. Lastly I shot some lubricant into the cable sheath and worked the cable back and forth. Ta da!!! Shifting like butter again. Hmmm...might as well lubricate the e-brake too.

Time to put it back together. I took my wife's advice and sprayed some "smelly good stuff in an area that rarely sees the light of day"

FYI, I never noticed the little cup symbol on the center console before

For those that aren't aware, the coin holder easily comes out for cleaning.

All back together, happy me. Saved a dollar
