Hi- I am new here and looking for some advice or just plain help! I have a 2003 PT Cruiser Touring Edition with 2900 miles on it. At 1845 miles needed to have the transmission pump and seals replaced. The car would jerk when downshifting. Now it is doing it again and the worst part is -- I can't get into my car as the door on the drivers side decided to get sprung sitting in my driveway last night. There are days it takes 7 or 8 tries to start. It has been to the dealers and sat in my yard for many weeks waiting for the parts. I bought this car in August of 2002 so that tells you how much I got to drive it so far. I guess it seems like my dream car is turning into a nightmare. The guys at the shop call my car work insurance. Should I dump this thing and take an $6000 loss as that is the highest I can get for trade in? Any advice for this girl who paid cash in full for her first brand new car? Chrysler will not lemon this car so that won't help me either. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sunrise,
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your problems. You should still be under warranty and if your dealer isn't giving you satisfaction, maybe you should try another dealer, or find out who the area service rep is and start complaining LOUD. Keep all your receipts from previous dealer attempts to fix your car and show the rep his failed attempts. $6K loss for a trade-in on a 2003...wow! Good luck. ![]() Trade your GAMES & MOVIE DVD's at: www.gametradingpost.net |

You don't have to abide by what Chrysler thinks - check your STATE'S lemon law. States all have online downloadable brochures nowadays. In MD, for example, the law is that if you have a recurring problem and take it into the dealer four times while under warranty and they can't fix it, they have to give you another car. Information like this is out there for the finding. Then check with your state to see who enforces it if they don't budge when you point out the lemon law. Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome everyone and advice. All I can figure out how the door sprung is that snow melted and ran down the door well and then later froze. You guys got me! There is no ice in there now and the car was parked on a little slant in my driveway. I live in the country so nothing happened to it overnight. The first time the auto transmission acted up- the service dept. did not order the part as he knew it wasn't available. So the part was ordered 3 weeks later. Took three weeks to get it in. Had it been ordered when I took it in- then the lemon law of over 30 days applied. When I questioned him on it- all he said was there wasn't any parts till then. Today I have to take it in again to where I bought it. I am having a hard time remaining calm when the salesman comes out smiling and says- "Having trouble again?" Thanks again forum members

Stop being calm. Walk in with pen and paper and record names, dates, and statments with them knowing it. They won't budge until they have to. Go to whom the buck stops and have him/her give you the information on how to contact regional or home office reps.
Good luck and don't take any more bullsh...! |

Well- I have decided that my 5 star dealer is nothing but sell the car and don't come back here. They wouldn't even check anything wrong with it because the "Check engine light was not on"!! I asked about the door and they said I opened it to far or if ice got in there I should park it in a garage. So I took the car to a body shop where they said the snow and ice might have caused the door problem. The door wasn't sprung but when I had tried to open the door, the ice caused the front bottom part of the quarter panel to cave in. They pulled it out and I told them about all my PT Cruiser woes. They told me just as you guys did- Go find another dealer. Well I take the car back in on Wednesday to a new service dealership. I have contacted Chrysler 3 times on the car and they called my dealer. My dealer said that they have not heard a word from Chrysler. Well my dealer won't be seeing me again either. Found out that there are a few more unsatisfied customers there. Thanks again for the help and so glad I found this forum.
