what you do is open the low pressure return line and direct the tube into a 5 gallon pail. if you need to get a male-to-male nipple and the identical inner diameter hose to extend the return line then plan to do it to keep your work area clean. and then you pour through about 3 times the system's capacity in fresh fluid ATF+4 from the opening while idling the engine. i even suggest adding a 1/8 can of seafoam trans-tune into the resorvoir, you can leave it in. that will clean up the varnish inside the lines and steering rack or your steering pump if it's old. never let the reservoir go empty, and in-between emptying the bottles shut off the engine.

Thank you, I'll being doing that next. It sounds like I'm going to need some old towels to absorb the fluid when connecting and disconnecting. Is this correct?
