Got the 8mm socket but can't get it to budge. Not the greatest room to work with under there . I'm a little under the weather and that isn't helping any. I did spray it wilth wd 40 but didn't seem to help

They tend to seize in there since it's a steel plug in an aluminum case. I was putting quite a bit of force into mine to the point I thought I was either going to break the socket bit or strip the hole. I got a propane torch and heated up the plug a bit. The heat helps expand it slightly to break it free from the case. After the heat it came out fairly easily.

Thanks for the idea. I have a heat gun...you think that would work the same way?

there's no need to get a plug there. nothing will go in there except maybe some dust but that wont do anything. its going to be full of clutch dust in there.

No. That does NOT get hot enough. But, try it/

One time I had to remove a 1/2 NPT plug in a front axle for a medium sized forklift. It had seized so much that I had to heat it up to a glowing red colour with an oxy-acetylene torch. And then remove it with an impact gun. So a lot of concentrated heat is required. I actually broke off my ratchet square drive trying to remove it. Reinstall the plug and use anti-seize.

Got the boot to break loose finally. Added a little fluid but it didn't need much. Car is still very hard to get into gear....probably going to have to have it looked at.

I don't know about the 2007. That is where it is on my 2003 GT. Do you have the correct manual? Handy has some up on google docs. He has both a Gen1 and a Gen2. I suggest you take a look at the Gen2. There are a lot of significant differences, as a bunch of running changes. Here is a "link to the link":

Don't mind the title, that is the title of the thread, but the post is for Gen2
