Default '07 TE will not idle past 3500-4K RPM...

I was at the auto parts store today, picking up a thermostat for my '07 Touring Edition. I read about Seafoam in another group , so I decided to give it a try for my 2000 Grand Caravan (185K miles) and my PT (152K miles). I really wish I hadn't done that... For whatever reason, the PT will no longer go past 3500 - 4000 RPM when in park and I accelerate. It gets a little louder, and runs rougher, when I press the pedal, but it will not rev any faster. Is this related to the Seafoam? On the plus side, I was able to replace the thermostat without too much trouble. But that is not where the problem was - I have a leak somewhere else. I am going to take it to the shop in the next week or so, as this looks like it might be more than I have the willingness to address. Just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on the idle issue. Thanks!!

There's likely nothing wrong with your car. The PT engines have a 4000 RPM rev. limiter when in park or neutral. Here's it is on my GT engine:

There is some interesting un-published ingredients to seafoam. I don't use it any more!

THANKS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was freaking out, and I even recorded a voice memo to try to upload. Mine is doing EXACTLY that. I feel SO much better now. I maybe I won't use the Seafoam again... HA!

Good call Todd!

I forgot about that. In my PT using my DS I raised the rev limit to 7000 and turned off the idle RPM safety limit.

You can see this cell to adjust both these using your DS.

The custom PCM I have in my vert has NO rev limit while driving. And you know, I don't think I've ever checked to see if it's got one while in park or neutral.
