I believe there is a TSB that reflashes PCM's for 2001 and 2002 PT's. Just hit a search looking for TSB's in regards of poor gas milage.
There is a TSB (18-18-00) for flashing the PCM to help acceleration and economy, but it only applies to PTs built before 8/22/00 with an auto trans.

I don't see any other TSBs dealing with gas mileage.

Thanks for all the info everyone! I'll do the plugs and wires this weekend and see what happens!!Just did the oil change and the tire air is up to your suggestions.........can't believe things are so critical just to get a little extra MPG!! Looks like I got what I got!It just seems like a 4 banger would do much better espically since gas prices have gone so high!

Here's a quick reference for changing the plugs/wires (Ignore the Denso hype)

I know, but the car weighs about 3,300lbs, is unaerodynamic, and is slow. That little 40-Banger has to work harder to get up to speed, which means it sucks up more gas (mainly for city driving). I find myself giving it way too much gas because I'm just not use to a car that slow...

Last week with my stock 2002 "woody" with 29k on it, tires @ 40lbs and original wires and plugs ran a cavalier that wanted to show off. At 105 mph the overdrive kicked in and I backed off. Oh, by the way he didn't pass me. Driving the PT @ 70mph and city, I run 19-21 mpg per gallon of 87 octain. If I drive @ 65 mph hwy, have got 27 mpg. I am confused about after market wires and plugs.

Did I do that? My OPINION: The stock copper plugs and ignition wires wear out somewhere around 30,000 miles. The Champion platinum plugs last much longer, and aftermarket wires (good ones) also last much longer. If your stock plugs and wires are okay, I don't think you'll see any improvement by switching, but by around 30,000 miles, you may be missing some spark. My reason for aftermarket is longer life - I don't believe there's any performance gain, just recovery of any perfromance (or mileage) you may have lost.
