Default Tomorrow head gasket job

Tomorrow around noon I値l start on my head gasket job.

Going to try and bang it out quickly. I知 putting a new timing belt and water pump on as well.

I don稚 plan on resurfacing the head at all. I値l put a level on it and inspect it.
This will be the last time I値l do this job on the car. I also need front wheel bearings but I値l hold off on that till this is done

I hope you meant a straight edge, a level is no where close enough to check for a warped head.

Don't forget that center motor mount while you're in there. Unless you've already replaced it once before. At least take a look at it.

I was meaning strait edge.

I値l check the mount. It痴 been changed before. I知 trying to not go overboard on the cost of fixing this thing. It痴 probably only worth $800 fixed

I知 half way to Orlando. I came from Tampa, the car seems to not be ore heating at all now. I filled it up with water and expected to have to call AAA but it痴 holding steady. Very weird. I had replaced thermostat. Filled with water multiple times. Bled the system

I think I知 still going to change it. See how it goes the rest of the way

If you do not skim a head that has had any over heating issues, it will simply be a waste of time...
You do not need to pull the valves at all. And your local cylinder head guy can vac test all your valves at the same time. All for 80$

If you're just running straight water, then the odds of it overheating are much higher. You really need a 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze, no matter what time of year or how cool the temps are. From my point of view, yesterday was perfect. 65 degrees here with low humidity. I got a lot of yard work done and will continue today with the beautiful weather we're having right now. Take advantage of it and get the head gasket job done now. It's supposed to rain and get warm again in the next few days. I'm about 120 miles from Clearwater off Highway 60 in Polk County. Do you guys know where Yeehaw Junction is? I'm between there and Lake Wales city limits.

Many do not really know how to "properly" use a straight edge on a head or engine block. It really is not as simple at may appear to be procedure!

Only if you have done the procedure before.

Update. Taking longer than expected

Water pump was almost wore out. Glad I got a new one

Top motor mount was bad. Got a new one

Currently drinking heavily, trying like hell to get the timing right
