Default Minor front end collison now fuel gauge shuts off

I was involved in a minor front end collison. I see no damage to frame or supports. Mainly scrapped bumper and munched license plate. When I start vehicle gas gauge works then after about 5 seconds drops to zero and fuel light goes on. I had a code 462 I think but reset and has not come back on. Car runs fine except for fuel gauge. I took battery cable off to reset computer and put back on after 10 minutes and same issue. Ideas are appreciated.

I would suggest checking your fuel sending ground wire going to the upper fender well.

Ground between battery and firewall looks good. Nothing broken or rusted. I did not have problem until the minor bump. When I first start it the gas gauge goes to the proper level then after about 5 seconds it drops to zero and empty gauge lights up.

Check your ground connections behind the air box on the driver side fender.

Check the ground on the passenger side inner fender. Can be a pain to get to; may want to remove the upper torque strut (motor mount).

Could be just a glitch? Try resetting the dashboard. press/hold the right hand button, then do the key dance (on acc on acc on, leave it on) everything should sample through, lights, dails everything. Whe it calms down (takes roughly 90 secs) turn off and job done.

I checked grounds with a trouble light, all seem ok. Ground cable hood to fender, fender well under engine mount to motor, strut to fender well (cleaned clip), ground behind battery tray on firewall. All wires have no issues, all bolts are tight. I even checked what fuses inside vehicle and in engine compartment. I have removed ground cable from battery multiple times and still same issue. Sitting in garage starting it does not get any trouble codes just empty gauge. I have plenty of gas.

I had a couple broken ground wires on my left inner fender but it all "Looked Good" I found them when I removed the wires to clean the connections. The wires oxidize from moisture and the mist of road salt ( here in the north) and the wires are thin and brittle with no protection. I ended shortening, I think there were 7 smaller gauge wires, using new eyelets and inserting two wires per. Glad I did it.

The fuel level sensor is grounded (G104) on the right inner fender.
The sensor signals the instrument cluster via the BUS communication system.
There is one connector under the hood that perhaps you should look at.
C110 located lower right side of engine compartment, below air intake and battery tray.
It is a black 10-pin connector, but likely has only 6 wires.

I found the 5 wires in 2 bundles on left side for NA. Cleaned bolt and wire clips, put trouble light to wires and shows it is getting grounds. I will next change ground wires at struts.
