Default Power Steering talking back (?)

It's cold outside. I turn the steering wheel off center to take a turn and hear (and feel) a mild grinding noise. If I turn and hold the wheel at a stop, same thing. HOWEVER it does not do this all the time.

Have any of you had a bad power steering pump?

I also have recently noticed that when I turn the steering wheel slightly from one side to the other on my GT, I get a sound like rubber squeaking. I have checked the power steering fluid and it is on full.

Will probably take it to the dealer next week although I hate letting it out of my sight.

It's getting worse now. Particularly when stopped, turn the wheel a little and begin a normal acceleration. PS pump seems to be going bad... and just turned 30k yesterday. Oh oh!!!!!!!

I just bought my 2002 pt used with 8200 miles. It has developed a low chirping sound when i am making a right or left turn at idle speed. Has anyone had this problem? If so have you had it corrected and how?

Thanks
