Default EGR to Non EGR head

I looking at putting a non EGR head on my 02 and just leaving the EGR and plumbing attached. Will it throw a code ? Or other issues ?

Default Re: EGR to Non EGR head

I don't believe that will work. I believe there is a small difference in the deck of the 2001/2002 EGR engine compared to the later model engines. Additionally, the EGR light will stay on if the EGR is missing. The PCM in the 2001/2002 PT uses the MAP sensor to detect a pressure change in the intake manifold when the EGR is engaged. If there is no pressure change it will throw the EGR light. You cannot easily fix this issue without modifying the programming in the PCM. I know, I've tried eliminating the EGR myself. For you, it's not worth the trouble nor the risk of the head not mating with the block properly. Just get a 2001/2002 head and put it back as it should be.
