Oily smell from air vent when idling

I have noticed for a time now that when I am at a stop sign and or idling, I detect a smell from the vent. It smell like oil or something with a petrolem base? I have check the engine bay and under carriage for petrolem leaks and haven't found a thing. I have just turned 30k on it.

Your not being ignored...I guess nobody has an answer for you. Did you try switching from outside air to inside air? Does it make a difference? Do you know about the filter that can be put into the vent that draws air from the outside? When others have had smells, it's usually a musty smell from standing water in the air conditioning vents. One solution for bad smells is to spray Fabreeze into all the vents. Worked for some, but you might have to do it every couple of weeks.

Antifreeze also has a oily smell!!! Possibly a small leak dripping on exhaust? [:I]

I hate to admit it, but this happened to me once and it was because after changing the oil & filter I flat forgot to screw the cap into the valve cover (DOH!)

It is coming when the fresh air cycles. Yes I have used the Free Breeze spray. As I said I see no leaks of any kind.
