About 3 tank fulls ago I changed the oil and filter and installed synthetic oil(mobile 1) with the best Fram filter. I also purchased a K&N filter(in stock air box) ,removed the silencer. I believe my gas mileage went way down. I was getting close to 300 miles a tank full now a little over 200 miles per tank. I read on another forum, a suggestion to someone else that had done another upgrade and thought they should be getting more from it was to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to reset the fuel air mix in the computer. Did I get this correct? Need some help here, not racing or anything.[:I]
I put a K & N FIPK and a Bassani system on and my mileage went down because my right foot was pressing harder. It takes a couple of hundred miles before the computer will make any changes so don't worry it should come back up unless you mash the gas harder.

I was complaining on another board about the rotten mileage that my 01 LE auto was getting. I just got back from an extended trip (2300 miles) and always got around 22.64 MPG. I only get around 16 in the city.

I've already put in an Airaid intake, changed to Mobil 1 full synth, added a Valvoline injector cleaner, changed to iridium plugs and new wires and of course reset the PCM.

I'm not worried about the actual numbers, I'd just like to know why mine is not up to the others. (We men always have to compare something don't we?)

I have to chime in, I've got a 2002 limited, with automatic. I also get only 17-20 per gallon, I do mostly city driving short trips under 5 miles with a/c on high. Probably the worst for gas milage expectations, I'd like to know the secret for get better milage also.[8D]

I have the same thing, I am happy IF I get 20 in town, (HEAVY FOOT). On the highway I got 28+ on a trip to Ashville NC. I was very happy as we were driving 70-74 mph, with cruise control and using A/C.

gonzomania;

I too did the same mods as you. Removed silencer, mobil one 5w30 oil and drop in K&N filter and have noticed similar findings of reduced gas mileage. Did you have any noticable improvement after disconnecting the battery?

Also, I have about 1600 miles on my GT Turbo and wondering at what mileage do you get close to the "advertised" mileage. I'm averaging around 19 mpg city/hwy.

Welcome Blackcruiser [^] I too have an 04 GT and just turned over 6K miles, and I still average 17.5 MPG [8)] do to heavy right foot and only slow freeway speeds, between sprints. [?]

I can't speak about the gas mileage, but after disconnecting the battery (for 30-60 minutes and turning the ignition key "on" and holding it in that position for a "good 30 seconds" or more) I noticed that my car ran "somewhat better." [8)]

So far not really sure with the mileage I've only put 37 miles on it since I filled up but it seems to be peppier or am I dreaming. Will let everybody know of results of next fill up. I have 17,600 miles on my 2003, that's for added info
