Default MX-5's 1-2 Shift burp mod

I know this has been talked about time and again, and I know I should pay for a pt diy subscription, but I just dont have 17 dollars right now. I am very interested in cutting that wire, and have searched for an explanation, but havent found one yet. Could someone tell me? And could i possibly snip the wrong wire and mess up my transmission?
