Hooligan,
Actually its from my mother. Dad couldn't haddle the fatherly duties, so he left to live with a women with a three year old before I was born, go figure.

Anyways, your right, however for me most of what I have learned has come from her, and I have had help from most of the men and some women I have worked with sense I was 16. Hey working in an Elks lodge with nothing but retired old "experienced" people isn't as bad as some think. Im now going on 5 years helping out. "Experienced" means they know alot and are more then happy to share it.

When I bought my first car through a loan in the bank, with co-sign of course 17, I forked out 1700 to get it fixed. I soon began to realise that money in the bank from saving is a good thing.

Although I do enjoy the money I make I also try to pay myself first, if you know what I mean, before taxes "hint, hint". Three simple intials, IRA, and working on 401k. [8D]

But hey lets get back on track here.

Alot of the folks on here know alot about mufflers and exhaust and from what I have read or heard, our stock PTs just don't benefit whole heartedly with a whole new setup then just replacing the muffler. The turbos have more power to put out then we do and could benefit more for the money then the stock N/A pts could. Although a full setup may look nicer on the Pt, the wallet frowns and has to bag for the money back after the purchase.

One guy I know has a manual tranny Pt, all he did was cut the whole system off, replace the mid chamber with a glass pack and put a dynomax muffler on + the piping of course. He did it himself and spent about 200 doing it, and thats not a bad price.

So you guys are perfectly happy with the muffler from jegs? Is it too loud? Im thinkin about buyin it, cause their shipping is 8 bucks, which is really cheap, and then install it for 50 bucks, it would definitely be worth it.

Yeup! I'm perfectly happy with the muffler from Jegs.com Some people on the forums here say it's too loud but that's the more aged people and usually it's the wife :X I don't think it's loud at all. My friends that ride with me don't complain. Most of them tell me it sounds 'badass'. One of my worries was that it might sound like I had something stuck rattling in the muffler like a Honda. It sounds nothing like it. It has this deep powerful sound to it like if we had a fast powerful car. I love how it sounds when it's idle. I have no complaints or regrets about this muffler. It's definitely worth it!

Had the Dynomax Super Turbo on my '01 PT along with a tip welded on that flared out to 3" so I know how cool the sound is. It was not extremely loud though with an automatic there was a little drone at highway speeds. Now I love my wife very much as she is my soulmate and my best friend, but we are also both strong individuals and don't have the same likes and dislikes. We share in all the decisions except when it comes to our cars. The '01 was my car and she says that what I do to my car should make me happy and doesn't have to make her happy. She didn't really care for the exhaust sound but it made me happy and that in turn made her happy. When she took the '01 as her daily driver I took the Dynomax off and put a quieter exhaust on because it was her car. Now if you share a car or it is her car then she should have a say in how it sounds and runs, but if it is your car then don't wimp out and say," Yes dear, whatever you say dear". Makes me want to puke [xx(]

TaylorMade,
Does your dad know about your 1-2 shift mod? I'd let you put a muffler on before messing with the wiring of the car, but that's just me. Listen to your dad, he's not trying to hurt you, just trying to look out for you. Don't go for the beltline kit, unless it's the one from Revelle, the $50 chrome plate over plastic will start chipping after about a year (I had one, took it off bc of the peeling). Perhaps the chrome door spears if you want to throw on a little more chrome.

TaylorMade, you are in an entirely different situation. You are in the realm of the influence of the parents. You won't understand this until later on in life, but enjoy it while you can. The world of the adult can be great, but it can also be harsh and cruel. Be happy your dad shares his car with you. I hope, if you're working, he does let you buy it if that's what you want. Enjoy being 16 though, when you hit 18 life changes big time.

Tell me about it.. I turned 18 last January. Time has gone by so fast. It's like when you were young and wish you were grown up, now that you're grown up you wish you were that 10 year old with no worries in life.
