Default Chirping sound while making right and left turns

I have a 2002 pt cruiser. It has 9300 miles and has developed a low but annoying chirping sound coming from the engine compartment while makeing right and left turns at low speeds. I took it to the dealer, and of course they could not reproduce the sound. Bid suprise! They stated belts and pulley all in good working condition. Anyhow, was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if so have you had it fixed? I want to get rid of this noise without having to fight tooth and nail with the service dept.

Thanks

Are you sure it is coming from the engine compartment? Several of the forums have been talking about problems with the clockspring in the steering column. There is a TSB on the clockspring problem. The TSB# is 1900601A (Component: Steering: Column - Experiencing steering column click sound when the steering wheel is turned).

My 03 GT with 5100 miles is starting to make a squeeking/rubbing noise when I turn the steering wheel that I suspect is the steering column or clockspring. It will drive you crazy.

Well I think I have found the culprit to the chirping sound. I decided to search for the belt and found it. I then purchased some belt dressing and sprayed the belt. The chirping is now gone. The delaer supposedly checked the belts for me and said it was ok.

Probably was crickets. They're allergic to belt spray.

If you haven't cruised Maryland, you haven't cruised.

(unless you cruised somewhere else)

As a retired service manager I don't recommend using belt dressing it is not good for the belts. If it returns I would demand the dealer replace the belt Modern belts don't make noise if they are adjusted properly. The spray will cause the belts to deteriorate

Well guess what, the chirping sound did NOT go away. It is not the belt at all. The dealer keeps telling me they can't duplicate the sound. It Chirps when I turn right. Almost sounds like a mount may be loose. I turned the car off and put it in park. I then opened the hood and began pushing the car back and forth to move the axle and engine to see if it chirped. Guess what, it did. Something is chirping. I am not sure if it is a mount or not. Maybe its the suspension? Can anyone please help me out. I really need to take care of this.

Thanks

Thank You Ray. I will take your advice. Only problem is I can't fit under my car so I am not sure if I am spraying he right stuff. <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>However I jacked up the car and swiftly went under and sprayed what I think are the inside shafts. Anyhow, I took the car to the dealer today and today has been nothing but a nightmare.

I called Chrysler to get some warranty info and ask what to do next if the dealer is still unable to resolve my complaint. The representative was very rude to me and hung up on me. Will be calling his supervisor!

Then The service manager at the dealer called me and told me to pick my car up and never bring it to them again because they don't hear it. I have been as flexible as possible with them and came in at 8am so a tech could ride with me and he was unable to ride with me. The sound always happens in the morning with no doubt. Anyhow he told me not to bring it back to his lot becasue I did not buy the car there. I then told him a few choice words, however did not cause a scene because I am better then that.

After this experience I will never buy a Chrysler or any Chrysler product again. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I could have gone in there and been a major @$#% but was always civil. Maybe next time I should be a bit more harsh.

Ray if you could please supply me with the name or part number I would greatly appreciate it. I am going to have an independent mechanic do the work for me.

I work as a quality assurance member of a call center and cannot beleive the level of poor service I have recieved today.
