power steering question
okay so i was turning my PT kinda sharp becuase of space reasons and i heard a sharp squeal then a little later i lost power steering on it . but the kicker is that after it sat for a while it was fine. any thoughts?

Sorry..not a clue...when my power steering pump went, it was in the middle of a turn and I almost ran into the center island. It never returned on me. Good thing I "had" aftermarket warranty coverage.

Belt to power steering slipped (the squeal). Later, the belt didn't slip and you were okay. Sounds like the belt has about had it. Was it raining or you go thru a puddle when it happened?

Mine started whining and leaking fluid. Dealer replaced it under warranty. Same thing happened to my son-in-law's 2001 PT

the belt was still on when we checked it, the mechanic we go to said it could have been the check vavle or something. This is becuase a while back right before i got the car the place that changed the oil and such put the wrong stuff in my power steering fluid. so we think it might have still been gungked up from that. so we had the mechanic today put some lucas stuff in there and see if that takes care of the problem
