Took mine out last week when I modified the stock box, the white silencer was tuff to move, until I twisted it slightly, then it slid right out.

nice post bumperbob... I did something similar on my 01 using the same type of pipe. instaed I cut the hole in the box larger then took a coupling piece & cut it into (2) 3/8-1/2" pieces. then I epoxed one on the new inlet pipe. Place it in the hole in the airbox. butted it up to the side tight & then epoxied the other "ring" in place.
this "clamped" the the pipe to the airbox with a air tight seal. worked AWESOME!!!
